Sinner Survives Jeers and False Start to Advance at US Open

Boos and a False Start Couldn't Stop Sinner

Despite facing jeers and a false start, Jannik Sinner overcame adversity to secure a spot in the second round of the US Open. The 21-year-old Italian defeated Daniel Altmaier of Germany 5-7, 6-3, 6-1, 6-2 on Tuesday.

Early Setback and Recovery

Sinner's journey started with a false start, resulting in a point penalty. Adding to his frustrations, the crowd expressed their disapproval with boos.

Unfazed, Sinner fought back, breaking Altmaier's serve in the sixth game. However, Altmaier regrouped, taking the first set 7-5.

Dominant Performance in Later Sets

In the second set, Sinner's confidence grew. He broke Altmaier twice to level the match at 1-1.

The third and fourth sets were all Sinner. He dominated Altmaier's serve, breaking it four times in total. Sinner's power and precision proved too much for his opponent, as he closed out the match in straight sets.
